So here's an update on our missing dog. Here's a continuation of the great story of the world traveling dog! Seriously, the story didn't just end with we picked him up this morning, the end! I can seriously write a book about his "journey"!
We spent about an hour or so this morning putting up Lost Dog posters around the subdivision where the dog was last seen. As we were driving home from doing that we got a call from the animal shelter. They told us that someone found the dog and they were at the animal shelter with the dog. So we made a detour and headed to the animal shelter. When we got there we were thinking we were just going to go in there, pick up the dog, then just go home and live happily ever after. Oh no, we have a good story going, we can't just stop here! We were told that the person who was there with the dog didn't want to just leave the dog there at the animal shelter, so he took the dog home with him in a town about 15 miles south from where the dog was last seen yesterday. But the animal shelter provided us with the phone number of this kind person (we shall call him nice guy for the purpose of this post) so we were able to contact him and make arrangements to pick up the dog.
We finally got a hold of this person and he told us how he came to find the dog. So apparently there was another person that found the dog yesterday close to the elementary school where the dog was last seen. But they didn't call the animal shelter or anything they just tied him to a light pole. So nice guy drove by and saw the dog tied to the light pole so he rescued the dog and took him back to his apartment close to the above mentioned elementary school. Since he couldn't really keep the dog in his apartment, he took him to his parents house in the above mentioned town.
So we were excited we finally found the dog and we were about to get the address for nice guy's parents so we can go pick up the dog.
But wait, this is one of those long-drawn movies that never ends...so here's the final twist...a few minutes after we got off the phone with nice guy he called back and said the dog escaped, once again! We felt like we were back to ground zero again! Now what do we do? Put up new signs again?!
Thankfully, about 10 minutes after we received the "bad news" from nice guy, he called us back one more time and said he was driving around in his parents' neighborhood to look for the dog and he finally found him! So this time we told nice guy not to let him out of his sight or out of his car whatsoever and that we would just meet him wherever he wanted to meet us at.
We picked a place to meet nice guy and finally able to get the dog back! Now he's home and in our possession once again.
Whew! What a story! We are glad there are so many nice people out there who helped us find the dog! And thankfully, he is finally home!!
